Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham has missed consecutive games against the Seattle Seahawks and the Tennessee Titans with a hamstring. Backup tight end Donald Lee has stepped up in his place, posting six receptions for 93 yards receiving, with Colin Cochart adding another two receptions for seven yards and a touchdown. That's how it's supposed to happen. A starter goes down and backups step up to replace him. But what happens when two tight ends go down?
According to the daily injury reports, Gresham was limited on Wednesday and sat out of practice on Thursday, though reports indicate he worked out on the side with trainers. Backup tight end Donald Lee missed practices on Wednesday and Thursday with a foot and could miss this weekend depending on how Friday goes.
Reports are positive.
Joe Reedy with the Cincinnati Enquirer tweets that Gresham and Lee are both practicing on Friday, along with Carlos Dunlap who hasn't practiced this week.
